Life of Clyde Lewis Remembered
Jan 8, 2010–Jan 15, 2010
The Harding Graduate School community will remember the life of Clyde Lewis January 14 during the 11:00 am chapel service.
Lewis passed away after a brief illness on December 28, and his funeral was held December 31.
Since 1996, Lewis volunteered over 8,000 hours in the library. His work of manually entering and checking data records for tens of thousands of books, was valued at over $100,000 had it been outsourced.
For his inspiring service, Harding University awarded Lewis its first honorary doctorate on the Memphis campus.
Lewis was also the librarian at his home church, the Church of Christ at White Station in Memphis.
In addition to his own volunteer efforts, Lewis funded several student scholarships through the Mary Griffie Cook Lewis Endowed Scholarship Fund. He established this fund to honor his late wife.
The family has requested that memorials be sent to that scholarship fund care of Harding Graduate School, 1000 Cherry Road, Memphis, TN 38117.
