Nettle Named Alumnus of the Year
Mar 15, 2010
Willie Nettle, minister of the Bypass Church of Christ in Vicksburg, Mississippi, has been named alumnus of the year by the Alumni Council, reports Keith Fussell, council president. Nettle earned the Master of Theology degree in 1987 and the Doctor of Ministry degree in 2004 from Harding Graduate School. His dissertation was titled, “Mentoring for Effective Leadership Development in an African American Church.” Nettle has been preaching the gospel of Christ for over 30 years. He currently serves as evangelist and one of three shepherds for the Bypass Church of Christ, a local congregation that he started 22 years ago in his hometown. In 2005, the Magnolia church merged with the Bypass church to form the current, racially integrated Bypass Church of Christ. The Alumnus of the Year award will be presented at the annual advancement council luncheon April 1, on the Graduate School campus. All alumni are invited to attend.
