| LIBRARY: ONLINE SERVICES |

The HUGSR Library provides direct services to students enrolled in HUGSR online courses. You may email, call, or write to request books or articles for your research or to ask questions. For research questions, ask librarian Don Meredith at hgslib@hugsr.edu.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8 am to 9 pm
Wednesday and Friday: 8 am to 5 pm
Saturday (Fall, Spring): 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday (Summer): 10 am to 2 pm

Checking out books: If you are registered for an HUGSR online course, you may have books mailed to you for a checkout period of four weeks. Your library account will be charged for the postage costs for sending the books, and you are responsible to send them back directly to the Library at your own expense. The checkout period begins and ends on postmarked dates. The fine for overdue books is $.10 per item per day, including weekends. To request an item, email Evelyn Meredith at emeredith@harding.edu, including your mailing address. Items will be sent by U.S. Mail. One 4-week renewal is available (unless another reader has requested the title) by sending the call number to Pat Hughes at phughes@harding.edu, or you may renew online with your H number. See instructions in ‘Searching HUGSR’s Online Catalog’ referred to below.

Requesting copies: You may request scanned files of materials you need. These will be sent to your email address as PDFs. We do not fax. Contact Evelyn Meredith at emeredith@harding.edu.

Postage, fees: You may choose to be invoiced directly or have charges added to your account in the Business Office for postage and fines.

Interlibrary loans: The Library will request photocopies if you need materials we do not have. Interlibrary loans usually required about two weeks to arrive. You pay the fee, if any, charged by the lending library. Contact Evelyn Meredith at emeredith@harding.edu.

Online resources: Almost all HUGSR journal holdings and books are listed in the Harding University online catalog, accessible at http://quest.harding.edu:8001/. Instructions for searching the online catalog, which is called Quest, can be found at the HUGSR Website (www.hugsr.edu) from the drop-down menu under “library.” Click on “Catalog search tips” for “Searching HUGSR’s Online Catalog.”

You may use the FirstSearch gateway http://firstsearch.oclc.org to about a dozen online databases, including the ATLA Religion Database, WorldCat (the combined catalogs of 40,000 libraries), and several full-text databases. Through FirstSearch, you have full-text access to about 60 leading theological journals linked to bibliographic citations in ATLA Religion Database.

Email the library for the authorization number and password, which are to be used only by HUGSR students. Please do not share these with non-HUGSR students. Under “library” on the Website click on “FirstSearch Database” for instructions on searching FirstSearch.
